Lake Minneola vs. Riverside (LA)
Identical Twins Anthony and Avery combined for 56 (34 points and 22 points respectively) as the Class 6A #1 Lake Minneola Hawks (20-3) blew a second half double-digit lead versus Riverside Academy (15-5) from Reserve, Louisiana. Lake Minneola began to pull away however in the fourth quarter thanks to a couple of quick jumpers by Andrew Mendoza en route to his 26-point performance for the Hawks. Lake Minneola now faces The First Academy at 5:20pm in one of the winners bracket games.
The First Academy vs. Shiloh Academy (GA)
The Royals outlasted the Generals 68-66 in the closet battle of the day as The First Aca’s Fletcher Magee received the pass on the wing in isolation, took two dribbles, created his own space from the defender and buried a 17-foot jumper with 2.7 seconds left in regulation to defeat the previously undefeated Shiloh Academy (20-1) from Snellville, Georgia. Magee led TFA (20-3) and all-scorers with 30 points. The Royals’ were also helped by Gerrell Dickson’s 18 points.
Wasatch Academy (UT) vs. Constitution (PA)
The Tigers jumped out to a 17-4 lead in the first quarter en route to a 50-25 halftime lead. A lead they obviously wouldn’t relinquish on their way to a 93-76 victory. Wasatch Academy (14-7) used a stingy matchup 2-3 Zone to force Constitution (12-6) into taking perimeter shots that were out-of-sync with their half court offense. Wasatch Academy, with their all-Canadian lineup were more-than-happy to capitalize on the visitors from Philadelphia’s lack of execution from the outside.
