We took a trip down to Tampa, FL to check out Bay Area Hoops and their Breakdown Showcase. BAH hoops on a first class true showcase. It was well run, drill work was nice, full court play was easy to follow and kids got a lot of exposure.
The showcase started with stretching and warm up with full court drills, then moved into full court basketball and finished with two all-star games. I left the gym wanting to see more because these were some of the top players in the state of FL. Some kids really made a name for themselves.
Note to players looking for exposure – GO TO THIS EVENT!
Here is the first list of players that stood out to us. This is in no particular order and more recaps will be posted over the next 3 days.
Niko Green out of Spruce Creek displayed very good athleticism and has a nice size at 6’5. He plays with a high motor and is one of those players that everyone would like to have on their team. Can put it on the floor and finish with ease around the rim. Niko has interest from several schools including UNF, Tulane, Jacksonville, and Brown. With what we saw this weekend, I expect for his choices to grow.
Stefan Kitchen out of West Oaks is a very G who was able to get to the rack with ease. Would like to have seen more of his playmaking because he is very capable. As he transitions into more of a point guard you will see the list of his schools grow. Currently he has interest from Sailsbury State, Cornell, and Colgate respectively.
Ak’Mee Burton showed good athleticism with a very nice handle. He was one of the first guards I noticed at the camp due to how hard he went in the drill work session. He is a Sophmore, so Im very interested to see what he does this season at Plant City HS.
Messiah Turner C/O 2018 out of Brandon HS is a player. At 6’0 he is a PG that can control the tempo of the game. He isn’t afraid to go to the basket and his drive and kick is advanced for his age. He continuously set up the shooters on his squad with open looks. Nice PG, can’t wait to see what he looks like in the spring.
David Jones, Leto HS C/O 2016. David was on our list as one of the top guards in the camp. He was able to control the pace of every game he played in. He always seemed to make the right decision. Surprised he isn’t on anyone’s list as at least a 3star recruit because can play. He showed athleticism, speed, court vision, and gets dirty on the defensive end. What more could a school want in a PG? He is one of those players were I may have to make a special trip to catch him this HS season. Very fun to watch this kid play the game.
Duncan DeMuth out of Siminole HS C/O 2018 was very solid. He would fit on any team and can easily play the wing, but due to his size he played down low to fit his team. He will be a wing at the next level and was in the argument for one of the players who would help a team most. He still has 3 years of HS left and if he keeps improving her will be a high D1 player.
Tyrese Williams 6’4” out of Spoto HS C/O 2018 When he gives it his all, he is a player you can’t ignore. Has great height, nice handle, just needs to develop that shot in order to take that next step. His handle is good for the F position, but with a little work he can easily transition to more of a reliable G wing. He has a huge upside and with the right training will have a long list of schools soon.
Christian Schach C/O 2018 out of Steinbrenner High School will give you 30 without taking a dribble. He has a knack for getting open and making himself available for the passer. Once her touches the ball his stoke is so fluid and quick that you’re surprised when he misses. Easily one of the best shooters in the gym. Would like to see him put it on the floor a little more, but I still wouldn’t be surprised if he puts up big numbers.
More to come!!!
