Athletic Club Georgia (ACG) is a youth sports organization operating in Alpharetta, Georgia. We are a travel sports club that serves northern Fulton County, East Cobb County, Forsyth County, Cherokee County and parts of Gwinnett County and north Cobb County. Our students are leaders who seek to enhance themselves, their school & community while building character through participation in team sports as well as cultural, educational and community service based activities. In 2014, our teams will compete cumulatively in more than 400 games in the Spring of 2014. Meanwhile, we will visit nearly forty college campuses and our students participate in numerous cultural activities while serving our community through service projects.
Georgia Phoenix partners with businesses, business leaders, community groups, educational leaders along with educational & cultural centers across the State of Georgia. Our students are primarily from the Atlanta area. However, we serve students from across the State of Georgia. Our goal is to provide extra-curricular activities for students via travel sports.
Our students compete in some of the most competitive events in the nation. Meanwhile, we visit college campuses and historic sites across the nation. We are a non-profit organization with a the sole goal of creating an environment to help students build character through participation in sports while growing through cultural, educational and community service based activities.
We started our programming with one boys’ team of seventh graders in Roswell and Alpharetta, Georgia in 2011 after the organization fielded high school travel teams in Middle and South Georgia competing as the Georgia Pride in 2005 and 2006. Today, Georgia Phoenix fields boys’ teams in six age groups (U10-U15). In 2013, we started girls’ teams. This spring, Georgia Phoenix will field girls’ teams in three age groups (U12-U14). In some age groups, we field multiple teams. Most teams compete in events sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Others will compete in Youth Basketball Organization of America (YBOA) sponsored events.
Our goal is to inevitably provide a platform for players to learn the principles of the game of basketball while developing strong leadership and team participation skills. For players talented enough to participate in collegiate athletics, we will work to ensure maximum exposure to college programs.
Our coaches are usually former college basketball coaches, former college players or former professional players. We focus upon Individual Skill Development built upon the basic principles of the sport of basketball. While we compete against the top teams in the nation, our objective is to provide a positive atmosphere and learning environment for our students. Meanwhile, we will encourage leadership, participation in cultural activities and community service based activities to help our community. We will also provide additional educational opportunities as well as college campus visits for our students.
